Here’s the thing no one tells you about NaNoWriMo...
Getting the first draft of a manuscript completed is the easy part!
Seriously.
It’s what happens AFTER you finish that first draft that will make or break your
book.
Every year thousands of people “Win” NaNoWriMo, but don’t go on to publish what they wrote because they don’t know what to do next after finishing the first draft.
That’s why I’m thrilled to tell you about a brand new course inside of
Writer’s Craft Academy, my
private membership site and group coaching community for aspiring authors.
The new course is called How to Revise a Manuscript and it will teach you exactly what to do to transform your crappy first draft into a publishable novel that readers will fall in love with.
The course breaks down like this:
Part 1: Why We Need Revisions - In this introductory video, we discuss the
importance of revisions and why revisions are so crucial in the first place.
Part 2: Three Phases of Revisions - In this video, we discuss the difference between revising and editing, and then answer the question, "How many drafts?" by exploring a three-phased approach to revisions.
Part 3: What to Do After You Finish Your First Draft - In this video, we discuss the steps you need to take immediately after
finishing your first draft, including the Big Read and the Foolscap Method of macro analysis.
Part 4: The Story Grid Spreadsheet - In this video, we walk through how to complete editor Shawn Coyne’s tool called the Story Grid Spreadsheet in support of a micro analysis of your manuscript.
Part 5: Eleven Questions to Ask When Revising a Scene - In this video, we explore eleven different questions you'll want
to ask yourself when revising a scene.
Part 6: Three Methods for Revisions - In this video, we explore three different methods for approaching revisions within your manuscript.
Part 7: Working with Beta Readers - In this video, we explore the process of working with beta readers (i.e., early readers) to inform further revisions and improve your manuscript.
Part 8: Resources for
the Polish Stage - In this video, we explore a number of resources available to assist you in the editing and final polish of your manuscript.
Part 9: How to Know When You are Done Revising - In this video, we explore the final stage in the revision process: finishing your book!
You’ll get access to all of these videos (along with over 50 other training videos available in the training library, not to mention
additional resources, and weekly group coaching sessions) when you
