I remember publishing my very first book.
Every step of the production and publication process was a total mystery.
I never quite knew what I was supposed to do next, or what any one stage in the process would actually entail.
Even when I was able to find a blog post
providing advice, it would just say things like, “Now it’s time to upload your book to Amazon.”
What those posts didn’t tell me was that even just the process of uploading to Amazon involves multiple steps that you need to be ready for beforehand.
I learned that the hard way.
But that was many years ago.
I’ve now published seven books, and things go a lot smoother for me these
days.
Plus, I’m actually getting result.
Last week, when I launched my latest book, Novel Advice, it immediately hit #1 in its category on Amazon.ca (and #2 on Amazon.com).
It was a three month timeframe from when I decided to create the book until it topped the charts last week.
Those three months of work involved editing, cover design, interior ebook design, sales page
design, and, of course, planning and executing the launch itself – all the things that were such a mystery to me back on that first book.
