Hi ,
When I published my first novel, The Page Turners, I had no clue at all how to market the book.
I considered
expensive options like paying for advertising in magazines or hiring a publicist, and I even wasted valuable time trying to figure out how to get on television and radio.
It didn't take long for me to discover, however, that the most effective approach to marketing a book these days also happens to be the most affordable.
I'm talking about blogging, of course!
And lets just get this out of the way right now before we
go any further: if you aren't already blogging... you should be!
Get on it, my friends; there's no good excuse not to.
(My friend John Corcoran even put together a blog post and video explaining, in step-by-step fashion, how you can set up your blog in under
ten minutes!)
Your blog is going to be the hub of your online author platform. It's how readers and industry influencers learn about you and your writing.
Even if you don't plan to publish your book for another year or two, now is the time to start building your platform and providing a growing audience with valuable information and insight as to who you are as a writer.
You're probably familiar with self-publishing sensation Hugh Howey. Howey's
novel Wool has been optioned by Ridley Scott and will soon be made into a major motion picture. Guess what method Howey used to grow the audience that allowed him to sell so many books that he was able to catch Hollywood's attention... his blog!
Blogging is affordable, but it's not easy.
Blogging requires frequent and consistent content generation.
You'll need to be publishing posts regularly over a prolonged period of time in order to
get traction with readers and search engines like Google.
Most bloggers can get out half-a-dozen, or even a dozen posts, easily enough, but then they hit... The Wall!
They've run out of ideas for posts.
They aren't sure where to take the blog now or what to write about next.
They feel like everything has already been said, and that they aren't enough of an expert to provide valuable information to anyone.
Suddenly, rather than spending
their creative energy working on their manuscript, they find themselves wracking their brains for blog post ideas! I DON'T want that to happen to you.
I want almost all of your creative energy to be focused on your manuscript, not wasted thinking about blog topics and content generation.
That's why I'm now offering a new one-on-one coaching package for
author-bloggers!
I'll work with you one-on-one to generate dozens of post ideas for your blog. We'll craft attention grabbing and click-able headlines. We'll schedule a steady stream of blog posts that will provide so much value to your readers that they wont be able to help but fall in love with you and your writing!
All you have to do is hit reply to this email and let me know a little about who you are and what you intend to, or already, blog about. We'll
then schedule a free consultation call to discuss your needs.
Blogging has reached a near tipping point. You DO NOT want to get on the band wagon too late (and, frankly, it almost is too late!).
Ideally, you would have already started your blog years ago. That said, if you start writing now, there's still time to take advantage of the most effective, efficient, and affordable method for finding readers, growing an audience, and, ultimately, selling your book!
If
you take your writing career seriously, and I know you do, you can't afford not to blog.
That's why I know I'll hear from you soon. Just hit reply and we'll get started.
Your pal in writing,
Kevin T. Johns, author and writing coach www.kevintjohns.com |
