Hi ,
Over the last week, I’ve interacted with many writers who absolutely knocked the Story Plan Intensive Challenge out of the park! They finished the month with the exact rock-solid outline I promised them.
Other folks I’ve touched base with, however, fell behind in the training.
For most of these writers, it wasn’t a lack of interest in the program or a lack of passion for their project that prevented them from completing the homework.
It was simply that life got in the way.
As I originally wrote way back in 2016, life always gets in the way . . . and that’s okay!
When life throws us a curveball, we adjust our timelines, tweak our strategies, and then continue on our way toward achieving our goals.
So if you were one of the writers who didn’t complete the challenge (or never started it), I want to offer you a fantastic way to make that adjustment and get back on track: join the First Draft group coaching program.
We kick off the program next Monday, and you do NOT have to have completed Story Plan to join.
In fact, in the past, some writers have joined First Draft without having even started Story Plan. They spent the first month getting caught up on their Story Plan work with direct support from the other writers in the program and me. Then they dove into
their first draft right along with the rest of the group the following month.
The goal of First Draft is simple: help you write a first draft in six months (or less) that reads like a third draft and was actually fun to write.
When you join First Draft you get:
- Access to our private membership community where we interact between calls, share resources, brainstorm ideas, and support one another
- Weekly Q&A group coaching calls where you can ask any questions you want about writing or your book in particular to get you over challenges and roadblocks
- Weekly Hotseat sessions where I review submitted pages in detail so that you can get the same kind of in-depth support and analysis I provide to my $800 a month one-on-one clients
- A group word-count-tracking-tool to keep the drafting process on track and to hold you accountable to your word count goals
- A weekly rotating positivity partner who will read your work and provide only positive feedback to keep you motivated and excited week to week throughout the drafting
You will also get instant access to the First Draft Training Library featuring 20 mini-courses covering topics like:
- Scene Structure
- Dialogue
- Subplots
- Point of View
- Environment and Setting
- Revisions
- Endings
- Punctuation
- Deep Theme
- Goalsetting
- Pacing
- The All is Lost Moment
- Research Techniques for Writers
- Writing Fast
- Antagonists
- The Mid-Point Shift
- Opening Pages Agents Love
- The Card Shuffling Technique
- Cool Writing Tools and Software
- And more!
Each of these courses (over 10 hours of training in total) includes a graphic sketch note containing critical information and images from the training so that you can quickly revisit the material at any time.
Life is going to get in the way. It happens. Don’t let that stop you from achieving your writing goals. Get the support you need to complete your first draft.
You can join First Draft on a month-to-month basis with no long-term commitment.
Or you can save big by purchasing a six-month membership to the program.
Whether or not you started or finished Story Plan is irrelevant.
It’s what you do next that matters.
Join First Draft today.
We get started Monday.
Your pal in writing,
Kevin T. Johns, writing coach
